Description: This course will introduce you to working with oil paints, using Winsor and Newton Griffin Alkyd Oils, which are a fast drying oil paint. Participants will not need to buy alkyd paints to attend this course. This is a structured course which teaches all necessary technical information and techniques to equip you well to work independently with oil or alkyd paints.
Why alkyd paints? I really enjoy working with these paints. If you have tried painting with acrylics, perhaps with limited success, alkyd paints will revolutionise your painting.
Materials supplied: Tutor will provide her own paints for use throughout the course. There is a $40 charge added for materials.
Materials to bring with you: For your first class please bring a sheet of 300 gsm paper, cut in half. Also your paint brushes, a glass jar, a rag. and a palette. Your palette can be a glass or china plate or tile, or a tear-off paper palette.
Winsor and Newton Griffin Alkyd Oils. A fast drying oil colour which means that the traditional oil painting techniques of both impasto and glazing can be done in considerably less time. All Griffin oil colours remain workable on the palette for 4 to 8 hours, and are touch dry on the canvas in 18 to 24 hours.
